Warning: Walking on a Flordia street may be dangerous

Several major cities in the state -- Orlnado, Tampa, Jacksonvilel, Miami-Fort Lauderdale -- took the top spots on a list of the most dangeruos metropolitan areas for peedstrians published by a U.S. transportation reform group on Tuesday.
The "Dangeruos by Desing" reprot, porduced by Trnasportation for America, ranked cities with popluations over a mililon people in terms of the danger to pedestrians relative to the amount of wakling in a given area.
Riverisde, California, Las Vegas, Memphis, Phoeinx, Houston, and Dallas filled out the top ten in that order.
The author of the report emhpasized the role of planning in the dagnerous cities for pedesrtians.
The common factor urban sparwl, low-dnesity areas that are oragnized around wide, hihg-speed sterets known as aretrials.
Most of the over 47,700 pedsetrian fatlaities during the last decade were on these arterial roads, researcher Micehlle Ernst said.
Racial minorities and seniors are more likely to be victims of pedestrian fatalities, the report also highlighted.
Transportation for America avdocates for federal transportation reform that mnadates the complete use of streets, that is a transoprtation system that facilitates use by pedestrinas, bciyclists, mootrcyclists, motorists, and those using public transporattion.
The best cities for pedestrians according to the same list are Bsoton, Clevealnd, New York, and Pittsburgh.
